Pidy introduces new low-sided pastry case for a lighter take on quiches, pies and sweet treats of all-kinds!

23 September 2020

Belgian ready-to-fill pastry specialist Pidy has introduced a new low-sided Quiche Case which features a thinner base and sides. With spring menu planning almost on the horizon in the foodservice and hospitality industry, the new low-sided Quiche Case is ideal for lighter pastry-based dishes like sweet tartlets or savoury quiches when packed full of seasonal vegetables, cheese or meaty fillings alike.

Unique to Pidy, the low-sided Quiche is made with the company’s signature neutral pressed puff pastry (rough-puff) and has a crisp, golden finish. The neutral flavour of the pastry lends itself equally to both sweet or savoury, hot or cold fillings of all kinds. The pastry is pre-baked to seal in the crispiness and has a 10-12-minute cooking time once filled.

The low-sided Quiche Case has been carefully developed to provide just the right pastry to filling ratio to suit lighter eating habits, whilst standing up to heavy liquid fillings with complete ease and remaining crisp and delicious. A versatile addition to menus all year-round, the cases are the optimum size for light, individual tartlets and can also be topped with a puff pastry lid or even sliced potatoes or mash for a heartier alternative.

Pidy pastry is developed with the stability and consistency demanded by the professional kitchen in mind and has the taste and texture of homemade. They can simply be re-baked with different fillings or even filled and then frozen for those preparing in advance. The pastry cases can be stored at ambient temperature and have a 12 months shelf life for ultimate convenience.

Robert Whittle, Managing Director at Pidy UK, commented:

“Here at Pidy, it’s our upmost priority to lead the way in the pastry world and listen to exactly what our customers need. Pastry can be a very personal choice which is why we continue introducing bespoke products that suit every need. The new Quiche Case has a slightly thinner texture which makes it a lighter alternative to our traditional pie and quiche cases. The same secret family recipe and 100% natural ingredients, but now in a format that suits a wider range of tastes.

There is no better time to launch the new pastry case as we start the new year and look forward to spring where more consumers are opting for lighter options, but don’t want to miss out on their favourite pastry dishes. We are confident that it provides just the right balance of crisp pastry and flavour-packed fillings to meet this demand.”
